Overview :
A thoughtful modernization of an older footprint, designed to inject high-end utility while honoring the home's original character. This layout centers around bespoke, hand-painted face-frame cabinetry in a deep slate blue, anchored by a massive, custom-fabricated solid oak island workbench.
Challenges :
Retrofitting precision modern mechanics—such as heavy-duty soft-close drawer runners and integrated storage matrices—into an older structure with out-of-plumb walls. The design also needed to seamlessly build around existing architectural features, including the exposed central vertical flue, without compromising on linear storage space.
Outcome :
A perfectly balanced, highly functional kitchen with a commanding tactile presence. The expansive, hand-finished timber island top provides a durable, furniture-grade workspace that will age beautifully, while the premium lacquer finish on the cabinetry delivers a striking, sophisticated contrast to the classic tiled splashback.
