Coastal Haven
A dramatic, texturally rich kitchen showcasing dark-stained ash joinery and premium, heavily veined natural stone.
Year:
2026
Service:
Architectural Cabinetry & Stone Integration
Duration:
10 Weeks
Budget:
$180,000 - $250,000 AUD

Overview :
A bold departure from typical bright coastal interiors, this kitchen is an exploration of deep tones and raw textures. Designed for a high-end architectural residence, the space features floor-to-ceiling, wire-brushed timber cabinetry stained in a deep charcoal ash, perfectly balanced by a massive island and splashback of honed, dark quartzite.
Challenges :
Maintaining absolute grain consistency across expansive, floor-to-ceiling structural panels and integrated pantry doors. Staining timber to a dark, near-black hue while preserving the unique tactile feel of the natural grain requires precise, multi-step wire-brushing and custom hand-finishing. The layout also required engineering heavy pocket-door tracks to cleanly hide the stone-lined appliance bays.
Outcome :
A commanding, highly sophisticated culinary centerpiece. The rich, tactile texture of the black-stained ash brings an unexpected warmth to the home's concrete flooring, while warm LED uplighting accentuates the natural timber grain. Every custom drawer, hidden runner, and heavy-duty pocket door performs with whispering, high-end precision.
